En la primera batalla, Kisuke Urahara salva a Rangiku Matsumoto de uno de los brazos con pinchos de Luppi, contrarresta el ataque de Wonderwice Margera y finalmente lucha contra Yammy ganándole el primer asalto gracias al uso de un nuevo invento, el Gigai para llevar; mientras en el mismo lugar Toshiro Hitsugaya que parecía estar derrotado usa su zanpakuto para congelar a Luppi, dejándole fuera de combate y liberando a Rangiku Matsumoto, Ikkaku Madarame y a Yumichika. Y en la otra batalla en el momento justo en el que Grimmjow iba a acabar con Ichigo aparece Rukia y lo salva quien a su vez es salvada más tarde por Hirako quien pone en su sitio a Grimmjow, mostrándole que también puede usar el "cero". Finalmente se muestra que el plan de Ulquiorra era entretener a los shinigamis para llevarse a Inoue Orihime y posteriormente vuelven todos los Arrancar al mundo Hollow.
