Al ver el cuerpo sin vida de su capitán, Hinamori reacciona airadamente atacando a Ichimaru Gin pero es detenido por Kira, teniente de Ichimaru. Cuando ambos llegan a liberar sus shikai, Hitsugaya Toshiro, capitán del décimo escuadrón, detiene el combate y ordena encarcelarlos. Hitsugaya le advierte y promete matar a Ichimaru si es que por culpa de él dañan o hieren a Hinamori. Yasutora Sado continúa derrotando con facilidad shinigamis en el seireitei hasta que el capitán del octavo escuadrón, Shunsui Kyoraku sale a detenerlo. Al final, Ichigo (ya recuperado), Ganju y Hanataro son sorprendidos e inmovilizados por el gran poder espiritual de Zaraki Kenpachi, capitán del undécimo escuadrón.
